There are times when you look back on your life and you go, “What the hell?” So, that could mean many things. It could mean that the time you decided to go ride that mechanical bull half in the bag was not the best idea. Perhaps it is a reminder of that time you went to the pub and picked up that really hot guy that somehow morphed into the elephant man by morning. It could also mean something much, much deeper. It could mean that your life is full of changes. It could mean that you are not content to simply be blown along a life without definition.

Some of the bits about being transgender can be amusing and/or you just never really thought about until you find yourself neck deep in it. Of course, most people will never have to think about such things, since this is a relatively rare occurrence. It’s not like people wake up on a whim and decide, hey, you know, I want to switch genders for the next decade. Yeah, I’ll by that for a dollar! So, for those of you curious about this side of the street, I’ll give you a sneak peek.
I have way too many books. Wait. I didn’t just say that. Yeah, I did. I think I could possibly give the town library a run for its money. Seriously. I have a problem. I love books. I love the way they smell when they are new. Paper that is crisp and clean. It cracks just a little bit when you open the book. It is so nice. Books have a certain power. It is not inherent in the book itself, it lives within the words that it holds. Well, sometimes the book has a certain power. We’ll get to that though. Why, you ask, am I rambling on about books? Why, love, because I can. It’s my blog. I get to write about whatever I feel like. Besides, did you notice that this section of the blog is called “The Ramblings”? So, I am doing what I said I would.
There is a strange power hidden within the realm of dreams. I don’t know what it is about them (well, that’s not entirely true) that causes even the most straight laced rational individual to get a little mystical. That creative impulse finds its resource in dream, lives change there. Reality is bent, broken, and then recreated in the land of Morpheus. When we perform magic, we strive to enter that altered state of reality, which, truth be told, is an act of working our way to the dream state. It kind of makes you go, hmmm. Most people will dismiss it as part of the natural course of existence, which it is. For the practicing magician, it is a dimension that needs to be tapped.
From The Mind Parasites by Colin Wilson I felt totally insignificant, meaningless, standing there. My life was the tiniest ripple on the sea of time. I felt the alienness of the world around me, the indifference of the universe, and a kind of wonder at the absurd persistency of human beings whose delusions of grandeur are incurable. Suddenly it seemed that life was no more than a dream. Yes, I read and re-read this particular work, along with The Philosopher’s Stone. I find them full of small nuggets that really make you think about your place in the grand scheme of things. I don’t always agree, but that is the point. It makes me think.

Lasciel AnnwynnI am one of those. Yes, that kind. I poke around in the corners and lesser explored paths of life looking for it's mysteries. There is so much magic in the world when you open your perception to it. Look with eyes of wonder. Archives
