It has been a rather long while since I addressed anything vampyric in nature. I suppose I ought not to short change that part of my blog title. So, I thought I might combine a couple of practices that I love to study; necromancy and vampyrism. Necromantic practice has seen something of a minor renaissance in recent years. I believe much of this can be attributed to a general increase in the interest and acceptance of occult practices. The rise in interest has created a corresponding interest in the myths and gods of old to include many of the chthonic deities such as Hecate, Annubis, Ereshkigal, as well as historical and mythological necromancers like Circe.

I will, on occasion, write something down about my dreams. It doesn’t happen very often that I can recall dreams in any great detail. More often than not, it is more of a feeling that I am left with. Even this is rare. On the vast majority of nights I recall absolutely nothing. On those instances where I get detail I take it as a measure of significance. On those very rare moments where I get a lot of detail, those will frequently cause a significant shift in my psyche. Last night I had one of those very rare dreams.
Life is a matter of perspective. No, really, it is. We make of it what we think and feel. The same situation can be perceived many different ways by different people. That same situation can be perceived many different ways by the same person. Depending upon that individual’s disposition at the time of any given event, it can be viewed apathetically, with joy, or negatively. Even given a person’s objective reaction (let’s say something happened and they were bothered by the outcome) at a discrete point in time can be viewed in hindsight quite differently. The mind has a way of coloring things after the fact. I mention all this because, once again, I am drawn back to the contemplation of labels. Of the need for people to compartmentalize, well, everything.

Lasciel AnnwynnI am one of those. Yes, that kind. I poke around in the corners and lesser explored paths of life looking for it's mysteries. There is so much magic in the world when you open your perception to it. Look with eyes of wonder. Archives
